From Sydney, Australia we welcome the award winning rock quartet The Jezabels to the Royal stage! They're setting out on a Canadian headline tour this spring in support of their internationally acclaimed debut album Prisoner. These 4 are an energetic bunch with a hard to describe sound. Some say indie pop, some say rock and sometimes you might here shades of disco. Whatever the sound, it’s making big waves wherever they play and we’re excited to have them here at the Royal. Released in Canada on Dine Alone Records, Prisoner was recently certified Gold in Australia and has earned the band a number of accolades at home including two Australian Independent Record Label Association Awards (AIR Awards) for "Best New Artist" and "Best New Single," as well as an FBi Award for “Best Live Band”. The band has also received plenty of international critical acclaim including being named as one of NME Magazine’s “100 Best New Bands.” Here’s their bio: Revelation is part of The Jezabels' art. Three EPs have led us this far. The Man Is Dead. She's So Hard. Dark Storm. Strange jewels dropped along their winding path to who knows where, each more lustrous than the last. Did you see how they caught the light? Hurt Me broke the US charts, made iTunes' single of the week. Easy To Love and Mace Spray were indie radio staples; Dark Storm an iTunes #1. AIR and APRA nominations were lavished for records and songwriting. Meanwhile in the live arena, maybe you've been shaken by The Jezabels' cocktail of power and elegance, at one of their sold out headline shows around the world, or at any number of festivals that left critics gasping, from Oz inkies to UK glossies to Austin's SXSW: "Commanding…epic…brilliant…menacing…purring, roaring, soaring… intellectual ferocity…pyromaniac intensity…imagination and emotional rawness…thundering…threatening…exuberant rock'n'roll swagger…" So much for peeking through the keyhole. With Prisoner, their debut album, The Jezabels are released at last. The solo acoustic sounds of Benjamin Francis Leftwich will open the show. Tickets are $12 in advance / $15 day of show and are available at The Royal, www.liveattheroyal.com, Urban Legends and Eddy Music. Doortime 8:30pm.
